Using the Master Account feature for a Party

In this Article

Parties can use the Master Account feature to link Parties in a Master/Sub-Account hierarchical relationship.

Note

Definitions

A Master Account is the main, top, head, account for a group of associated, linked Parties.

A Sub-Account - a Party associated, linked to a Master Account/Party as a subordinate account.

Tip

How is the Master/Sub-Account feature useful?

  • The feature can be helpful in reporting by allowing you to report on the Master Account and include all of the Sub-Accounts in the report.
  • It can also be useful when you have multiple, redundant accounts and you want to consolidate these into one single account. In this case, you can designate one account as the master, and link the others as Sub-ordinate accounts and inactivate those Sub-accounts.

Navigation

  • Click on Application Selector > Control Panel > Parties

  • Then click on the Create Party button or the Edit Icon.

Note

You need to be in a Party record before you can Add or Delete Addresses from a Party. You can either create a new party or edit an existing party. Both of these can be done from the Party Maintenance screen as circled in red above.

  • From the Create Party or Edit Party screen, locate the Master Account

Steps

  • To designate a Party as the Master Account, select the radio button as shown below:

  • To assign a Party as a Sub-Account to a Master Account, enter the Master Account into the Assigned to Master field.

This will link the Party to the designated Master Account as a Sub-Account.
